## Key points

- Schefter is watching Minnesota’s quarterback situation before the trade deadline.
- Murray is sidelined, and Wentz is expected to start against Buffalo.
- Jones and Cousins are among the possible trade targets.

## Summary

Adam Schefter says he is closely monitoring Minnesota’s quarterback situation ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, raising the possibility that the 6-1 Vikings could seek a late-season addition. The team has a strong defence but has struggled to get consistent production from quarterback Kyler Murray, making the position a potential concern for its Super Bowl ambitions.

Murray has completed 100 of 154 passes for five touchdowns and three interceptions in six games, and is now sidelined with a sore hamstring. Carson Wentz is set to start against Buffalo on Monday night, after Minnesota’s first loss of the season, a 19-15 defeat by Detroit. Speculation has focused on former Vikings Daniel Jones and Kirk Cousins, though it is unclear whether the Colts or Raiders would trade either player.
