An Afghan boxer suspected of killing Scottish aid worker Elisabeth Ross in Athens has appeared in court for a second time, as the case against him progresses. Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, faces charges of homicide with intent, robbery and weapons offences over the death of Ross, 38, from Edinburgh, whose body was found by a homeless man in a derelict building in the Kypseli area of the city on 18 July.

Ahmadzai was initially detained on illegal weapons charges and is also accused of stealing more than €10,000 (£8,500) from Ross's bank accounts using her cards; he has reportedly admitted moving her body but denies the homicide charge. He is further accused of sending messages from her phone to friends and family while impersonating a jihadist claiming a religiously motivated killing, before his wife, Alaina Hall, alerted police after tracking his phone to Ross's location. Ross, known as Lisa, had been volunteering with a refugee support group in Athens after arriving in Greece on 26 June, and is believed to have died several days before she was discovered.
