Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2 and Marathon, is reportedly seeking to sublease its 211,000 square foot headquarters, just a few years after significantly expanding into the space in 2021. The move reflects the wider contraction seen across the games industry, where studios that grew rapidly during the pandemic-era boom have since scaled back staff and office footprints amid falling revenues, layoffs and restructuring.

Bungie's 2021 expansion had been a sign of confidence in its growth trajectory, coming as the studio was acquired by Sony and continued to build out Destiny 2 alongside new projects. Attempting to offload a large portion of that space now points to reduced headcount needs and cost-cutting pressures at the studio, consistent with the broader downsizing trend seen at many major game developers and publishers in recent years.
