## Key points

- ESO content is delayed after major ZeniMax Online layoffs.
- The studio says it remains committed to the MMO.
- No revised release date has been given.

## Summary

Following layoffs at ZeniMax Online Studios, new content for The Elder Scrolls Online has been delayed, although the studio has said it remains committed to supporting the long-running MMO. The delay has raised concerns about the game’s future development pace because it came amid broader Microsoft job cuts and the cancellation of ZeniMax Online’s separate MMO project.

Before the cuts, the studio had planned to move away from annual major Chapters in favour of smaller, more frequent seasonal updates. Reports indicated that nearly half of ZeniMax Online’s workforce was affected, leaving a smaller team to maintain and expand ESO; no new release date for the delayed content was announced.
