‘Age Of Attraction’ Is Netflix’s Top New Reality Launch, But ‘Star Search’ & ‘Calabasas Confidential’ Struggle

Deadline · 1 day ago

Netflix's biannual "What We Watched" report shows that Age of Attraction, an age-gap dating series, was the streaming platform's best-performing new reality show in the first half of 2026, while other high-profile unscripted launches such as Star Search and Calabasas Confidential failed to gain traction. The findings, released on 16 July 2026, highlight the unpredictability of Netflix's reality TV strategy as it continues experimenting with formats including live competition shows and celebrity-fronted series.

Age of Attraction, hosted by Nick Viall and Natalia Joy, debuted in March and racked up 10.9 million views, prompting a swift second-season renewal. By contrast, Calabasas Confidential managed just 1.5 million views and failed to crack the top 1,500 series, while Star Search, a live competition show fronted by Anthony Anderson with judges including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chrissy Teigen, opened to 2.6 million views before falling to 600,000 for its final episodes; former Netflix unscripted boss Jeff Gaspin said it likely won't return for a second season. Other titles included Members Only: Palm Beach (3.4 million), Funny AF with Kevin Hart (up to 42 million cumulative episode views), and returning hits Love Is Blind Season 10 (13.1 million) and Love on the Spectrum Season 4 (11.2 million), underscoring that established shows still comfortably outperform most new entries.

  • Age of Attraction was Netflix's top new reality show of H1 2026
  • Star Search and Calabasas Confidential drew far weaker audiences
  • Returning favourites like Love Is Blind still outperformed most new launches
