## Key points

- Airbnb plans to launch its AI travel agent in early 2027.
- The agent will use travel tools beyond a standard chat window.
- Users are expected to plan and book directly in Airbnb.

## Summary

Airbnb says it plans to launch an AI travel agent in the first half of 2027 to help people plan and book trips. The company argues that travel planning needs more than a standard chatbot, and that its experience with hosts, guests and bookings gives it an advantage.

Airbnb says the agent will create a tailored interface using tools such as maps, photos, comparisons, calendars and itineraries. It is intended to help travellers explore options, make decisions together and book directly through Airbnb. Chief executive Brian Chesky had previously said the planned agent would have a richer interface than a chatbot.
