Airbnb Launches Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Lollapalooza Experience

Variety · 2 months ago

Airbnb has partnered with Lollapalooza to offer guests exclusive backstage access at the Chicago music festival, providing entry to typically restricted artist areas, production zones, and performances from an Airbnb-branded stage. The experience, led by Tim Sweetwood—a longtime festival organiser—will operate during the festival's four-day run from 30 July to 2 August at Grant Park, where over 170 artists are scheduled to perform.

The partnership reflects surging demand for travel centred on live music, with Airbnb reporting a 20% increase in out-of-state Chicago bookings for Lollapalooza weekend compared to last year, and a 15% rise in Generation Z searches. Beyond the backstage access, Airbnb is promoting additional Chicago experiences including culinary tours, cultural classes, and neighbourhood walks, positioning the partnership as part of a broader strategy to combine lodging with entertainment and local activities. Chicago hosts generated over £6.4 million in revenue during last year's Lollapalooza weekend.
