Al Madrigal Joins Cast Of NBC’s ‘Newlyweds’

Deadline · 4 hours ago

Al Madrigal has joined the recurring cast of NBC’s forthcoming comedy Newlyweds, playing Dan, the divorced best friend of Tim Daly’s character James. The casting adds another established comic actor to a series centred on an impulsive later-life marriage, and places Madrigal alongside Téa Leoni, Daly and recurring guest star Jamie Lee Curtis.

The show follows free-spirited Jeanie and reserved professor James, who marry after a whirlwind romance following his divorce. Dan’s intended single life is disrupted by their wedding, while his role in bringing the couple together angers James’s ex-wife Claudia, played by Curtis; NBC ordered the series in May, with Gail Lerner serving as writer, showrunner and executive producer.
