## Summary

Alabama beat LSU 31-13 in Baton Rouge, answering criticism of its No. 5 College Football Playoff ranking with a strong second-half display. The win strengthened the case that Kalen DeBoer’s team can contend for the national championship, while leaving LSU’s playoff prospects in serious doubt.

Freshman quarterback Keelon Russell threw for more than 200 yards and three touchdowns as Alabama scored 21 unanswered points. LSU managed only one touchdown across four red-zone possessions and now has three losses, with Texas due to visit next week. The article says LSU spent more than $40 million assembling its roster; coach Lane Kiffin has lost all six of his games against Alabama as a head coach.
