I must be dreaming: Alabama Shakes reveal comeback album after 11 years
Alabama Shakes have announced their third studio album, 'I Must Be Dreaming', which will be released on 28 August via Island Records. It is the band's first album in 11 years, marking a significant return for the group after a lengthy hiatus, and they will preview it with a new single, 'I Feel Hope Coming', on Friday 10 July.
The record was made in Nashville and produced by the band alongside Shawn Everett, described in press materials as a "richly textured, psychedelic soul sound" exploring love, mortality and modern life. The band now continues as a three-piece — Brittany Howard, Heath Fogg and Zac Cockrell — following the departure of former drummer Steve Johnson. Their return began last August with the single 'Another Life', followed by 'American Dream', both of which appear on the 11-track album. Howard explained the title's "double meaning", reflecting a world that is both "crazy" and "incredibly beautiful".
