Alan Ritchson has said Die Trying is his favourite Jack Reacher novel, but its planned adaptation is currently on hold. The actor revealed that the project was initially approved, “until someone got re-elected”, while Season 5 will instead adapt Make Me.

Die Trying follows Reacher after he is kidnapped by the extremist Montana Militia, whose leader, Beau Borken, plans to declare independence from the United States. The group also abducts FBI agent Holly Johnson, the daughter of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, forcing Reacher to escape, rescue her and prevent a terrorist attack; the novel remains a popular choice for a future season because it offers a distinctive setting and high-stakes conflict.
