- Alcaraz beat Shelton in straight sets to win the Paris Masters.
- He claimed his ninth ATP Masters 1000 title.
- He next turns to the ATP Finals.

## Summary

The newly added coverage highlights Alcaraz’s account of the final as one of his toughest challenges, praising Shelton’s improving form and saying he was pleased to find a way to win. The Spaniard beat the American 7-6(5), 7-5 to claim his ninth ATP Masters 1000 title and avenge his US Open quarter-final defeat.

The first set was decided in a tie-break, where Shelton’s forehand errors helped Alcaraz take the lead. Shelton went 3-2 up in the second after Alcaraz double-faulted twice, but Alcaraz broke back and won the final game as Shelton sent more forehands long. It was Alcaraz’s sixth attempt to win the Paris title and made him the first Spaniard champion since David Ferrer in 2012; he has won three titles since the US Open and next plays at the ATP Finals.
