A former juror from Alex Murdaugh’s murder trial, known publicly as the “egg juror”, has reportedly filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking the release of state investigation records concerning former Colleton County clerk Becky Hill. The move keeps attention on allegations that Hill improperly influenced jurors, an issue that led South Carolina’s highest court to overturn Murdaugh’s murder convictions and order a new trial.

The juror was dismissed during the original trial after claims that she had discussed the case outside court, including remarks about eggs, but she has maintained that her removal was unfair. Hill has faced scrutiny over accusations of jury tampering and misconduct, while Murdaugh, convicted in 2023 of murdering his wife Maggie and son Paul, remains imprisoned on other financial-crime convictions.
