Alex Warren on Honoring His Parents on ‘WILDCHILD’ & His Wife’s Reaction to Another Love Song: ‘She’s Like, ‘I Get It, You Like Me”

Alex Warren says his new album, WILDCHILD, was designed to mirror the shifting emotions of his live performances, moving between upbeat, tearful and humorous moments while maintaining a connected narrative. The album is particularly significant to him because it honours his late father, who called him “wild child” and whose recorded messages appear on the record.

Released on 28 August through Atlantic, WILDCHILD was written with returning collaborators Adam Yaron, Cal Shapiro and Mags Duval, who also worked on You’ll Be Alright, Kid. That previous album included “Ordinary”, which spent 10 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and was named Billboard’s 2025 Song of the Summer; Warren says he does not expect to match its scale. New songs including “Fine Place to Die” and “Rescuer” reflect his relationship with wife Kouvr Annon, who he jokes is now accustomed to his repeated declarations of love.

  • WILDCHILD draws on Alex Warren’s live-show emotional range.
  • The album includes recordings of Warren’s late father.
  • Warren reflects on “Ordinary” and songs about his wife.
