Alex Warren's second studio album, WILDCHILD, has debuted at No. 1 on two Billboard charts, Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums, marking his first leaders on either ranking. The album also entered at No. 2 on the flagship Billboard 200, his highest chart placement and second top 10, and made its first appearance on the Indie Store Album Sales chart at No. 9, underlining the singer-songwriter's growing commercial pull following the success of his debut album and its chart-topping single "Ordinary".

WILDCHILD earned 75,000 equivalent album units in its first week, ending 3 September, according to Luminate, Warren's best week yet by units, with 55,000 of those from album sales, also a personal best. The strong sales were driven by an extensive range of formats, including 13 vinyl variants, five CD editions and three download versions, several featuring bonus content or signed copies. The album followed three prior Hot 100 entries for Warren and lands in a competitive week atop the Top Album Sales chart, which also features new releases from The Warning, Billy Strings, Sara Bareilles, Mastodon and Prince.

Alex Warren is an American singer-songwriter who first broke through with his 2025 single "Ordinary," which topped the charts and helped establish him as a rising commercial force in pop music. His debut album built on that momentum, and WILDCHILD is his highly anticipated second studio album, released into a competitive week of new music.

Billboard is the industry's main chart authority in the US, tracking record sales, streaming and airplay across multiple rankings, including the flagship Billboard 200 and more specific charts like Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums. A No. 1 debut on any of these charts signals strong commercial performance in an artist's first week, based on data from the tracking firm Luminate, and is widely used as a measure of an act's growing popularity and market reach.

Physical formats such as vinyl records and CDs remain an important part of how dedicated fans support artists, often through special editions, bonus content or signed copies, which can boost first-week sales figures. This context matters for understanding why an album's chart placement, unit sales and format breakdown are closely watched as indicators of an artist's trajectory in the music industry.
