‘Alice and Steve’ Renewed for Season 2 at Disney+ and Hulu
"Alice and Steve" has been renewed for a second season on Disney+ and Hulu, following a well-received first outing for the comedy starring Nicola Walker and Jemaine Clement. The series, which airs on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland and on Disney+ and Hulu in the US, follows Alice as she copes with her best friend Steve dating her 26-year-old daughter Izzy, turning their friendship into an escalating feud. The renewal matters as further evidence of Disney's continued investment in original British-made comedy through BBC Studios' Clerkenwell Films.
Creator Sophie Goodhart expressed delight at the pickup, teasing more surprises ahead for the pair, while executive producer Petra Fried and Disney+ EMEA scripted VP Lee Mason both praised the show's blend of humour and messy relationship drama. The first season, which ended on a cliffhanger, drew strong reviews, with Variety's Alison Herman highlighting the "lived-in platonic chemistry" between Walker and Clement as its foundation. Season two is expected to bring further "laughs, betrayal and bad decisions" as the frenemies' rivalry continues.
