‘Alien: Romulus’ Director’s Horror Thriller That Earned 15x Its Budget Is Officially Leaving Streaming
Fede Álvarez's psychological horror-thriller *Don't Breathe* is set to leave Netflix on 31 August, after only a short spell on the platform. Álvarez went on to direct 2024's *Alien: Romulus*, produced by Ridley Scott, though he has since confirmed he will not return for the sequel currently in development at 20th Century Studios, with Scott instead helping to find a new director. It is not yet known where *Don't Breathe* will stream after leaving Netflix.
*Don't Breathe*, released in 2016 and starring Stephen Lang, reportedly earned around 15 times its production budget at the box office. Álvarez's 2018 film *The Girl in the Spider's Web*, which grossed $35 million, is currently available on Hulu. Netflix has not indicated a reason for the film's departure or where it might resurface afterwards.
