Amanda Warren & Evan Jonigkeit To Topline Indie Sci-Fi Horror ‘Door’

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Amanda Warren and Evan Jonigkeit have begun filming the lead roles in "Door", an independent sci-fi horror feature marking the directorial debut of married filmmakers Sara and Wil Magness, who also wrote the script. Shooting in Portland, Oregon, the film follows a family whose lives unravel after a father unwittingly opens a door leading to realities shaped by the subconscious minds of those who step through it. The project is notable both for its high-profile cast and for launching two newcomer directors whose previous short film earned widespread festival recognition.

The supporting cast includes Akira Jackson, River Blossom, Johnny Sibilly and Henry Ian Cusick, while the Magnesses are producing alongside Stacy Lorts under their Why Because Films banner, with Courtney Tait co-producing. Warren, known for The Leftovers and The Night Agent, recently appeared in Cannes title Atonement and has two upcoming Netflix projects, while Jonigkeit, an Emmy nominee from The Hunting Wives, previously starred in Searchlight's The Night House. The Magnesses' earlier short film, The Manual, screened at 30 festivals, won 14 awards, and has been viewed more than 800,000 times on the Dust streaming platform.
