Amazon Developing Half-Hour Marriage Comedy From Atsuko Okatsuka & Josh Rabinowitz; Hiro Murai And Ramy Youssef Among EPs

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Amazon is developing a new half-hour comedy series starring stand-up comedian Atsuko Okatsuka, co-created with writer-producer Josh Rabinowitz, according to sources cited by Deadline. The show, described as a vehicle for Okatsuka centred on modern marriage, marks another significant step for the comedian's push into scripted television following a string of stand-up and acting successes. Amazon declined to comment, and no title or plot details have been released.

Hiro Murai (Emmy-nominated for Apple's Widow's Bay) and Ramy Youssef will serve as executive producers alongside Okatsuka and Rabinowitz, with production companies Super Frog, Cairo Cowboy and Entertainment 360 also attached. Okatsuka, recently named Breakout Comedy Star of the Year at Just for Laughs, has released two acclaimed specials (HBO's The Intruder and Hulu/Disney+'s Father) and has film credits including Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Elio, with a third special due on Netflix next year. Rabinowitz's past credits include Broad City and Babes, while Youssef is known for creating Ramy and the Amazon animated series #1 Happy Family USA.
