Amazon has given a full series order of eight episodes to a television adaptation of the Robocop franchise, upgrading a project that had previously only been confirmed as a pilot. The show is being run by Peter Ocko, known for his work on The Office, Pushing Daisies, The Leftovers and Lodge 49, with James Wan producing and original Robocop co-writer Ed Neumeier serving as executive producer, tying the new series back to Paul Verhoeven's 1987 film.

Wan said the original film's themes around technology, identity and corporate power feel more relevant than ever, a pointed remark given the original's villain was a sprawling conglomerate, Omni Consumer Products, in a franchise now being revived by Amazon itself. No cast or release date has been announced yet. The Robocop franchise, nearing its 40th anniversary, has previously spawned two film sequels, animated series, other TV adaptations, a 2014 reboot film and the 2023 video game RoboCop: Rogue City.
