Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Carina Walker as its Head of Young Adult (YA), completing the senior scripted leadership team under global television head Peter Friedlander. The move underlines the studio’s growing investment in YA programming, an area that has delivered several successful Prime Video series and is expected to feature more adaptations of BookTok-popular titles.

Walker has spent about 9.5 years at Amazon, working across drama, international programming and, most recently, YA development. She will report to Friedlander and join leaders for comedy, drama, worldbuilding, nonfiction and animation; her previous credits include developing Off Campus, Every Year After and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Amazon says four YA series launched during the summer—Off Campus, Elle, Every Year After and Sterling Point—have all been renewed for second seasons, following the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
