## Summary

Prime Video has released the first look at its upcoming television adaptation of Stephen King's *Carrie*, developed and directed by horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan. This marks the story's return 50 years after Brian De Palma's original 1976 film, moving the tale of a bullied, telekinetic teenager from cinema to the small screen for the first time, with Flanagan updating the bullying narrative for the social-media era.

The eight-episode series stars Summer Howell as Carrie White, alongside Amber Midthunder and Matthew Lillard, and follows Carrie as she navigates public school, a viral bullying scandal and her mother's overprotectiveness after her father's death, while her telekinetic powers emerge. Images shared so far show school and shower-bullying scenes, though none from the notorious bloody prom sequence. Previous attempts to follow up on the 1976 classic, including films in 1999, 2002 and 2013, were poorly received, but the calibre of talent involved has raised hopes this version could fare better. No release date has been confirmed, though it is expected to stream in the autumn.
