Amazon has quietly raised prices across its Kindle, Echo, Eero and Fire TV device ranges, following similar increases from Apple and Kobo earlier this summer. Amazon told CNET the hikes stem from rising memory and storage component costs, though the timing—just ahead of Prime Day and Black Friday—means the "sale" discounts shoppers see this festive season will often just bring prices back to what they were only a few months ago.

Kindle prices have risen by at least $30, with the base Kindle up $40 to $150 and the Kindle Colorsoft Signature now $320; only the premium Kindle Scribe range was left untouched. Echo speakers rose by $10 to $100, hitting the Echo Dot ($80) hardest proportionally and the screen-equipped Echo Show 21 hardest in absolute terms ($500, up $100), though the Echo Studio and older Echo Show 8 kept their prices. Eero mesh routers also increased, with the Eero 7 up $50 to $400 and the Eero 7 Pro up $100 to $800, while the budget Eero 6 was unaffected.
