AMD’s Gorgon Halo systems have arrived with up to 192 GB of unified memory, making them capable of running very large AI models locally. That could appeal to enthusiasts and privacy-conscious businesses, but the memory comes at a steep cost: GMKtec’s EVO-X5 Pro starts at $6,799.

Gorgon Halo is a faster-clocked version of AMD’s Strix Halo, with up to 16 Zen 5 cores and a 40-unit integrated GPU; its main upgrade is support for 192 GB of faster memory, up from 128 GB. At four-bit precision, that capacity can accommodate models of about 345 billion parameters on Linux or 320 billion on Windows, though the memory speed increase is modest and offers limited performance gains. Prices have risen amid an AI-driven memory shortage, which Samsung expects could persist through 2028.
