- Returning to the stage helped him rediscover what mattered.

## Summary

Justin Guarini, the first season runner-up on “American Idol”, has described how his Hollywood career faltered after his early success and led to a period of isolation and low mood. He now says the experience became a valuable lesson in resilience, and has written about it in his book on confidence and owning your story.

In 2003, RCA dropped Guarini, who said he learnt the news while watching “Saturday Night Live”. That year, his debut album reached the Billboard 200’s top 20, but the film “From Justin to Kelly”, in which he starred with Kelly Clarkson, flopped and drew criticism. Guarini says he eventually found renewed purpose by returning to singing and performing on stage.
