America’s wounded cops find hope, healing and second chance through officers who refuse to leave them behind
The Wounded Blue is a support organisation dedicated to helping police officers whose careers are altered or ended by injuries sustained on duty. Since its founding, the group has provided assistance to 17,000 officers, focusing on both physical recovery and the emotional reintegration that follows life-changing trauma in law enforcement.
Retired Las Vegas police Lieutenant Randy Sutton established the organisation following his own career-ending stroke, drawing from his personal experience with the isolation many wounded officers encounter. The group addresses what Sutton identifies as officers' most difficult moment: the realisation they have been forgotten. By reconnecting injured officers with purpose and community support, the organisation helps them navigate the transition and find meaning beyond their careers in uniform.
