Met Gala organisers are reportedly considering moving the 2027 event by a week amid criticism of plans to honour British designer John Galliano, whose 2011 conviction for antisemitic remarks has prompted renewed opposition. The proposed May 3 date would coincide with Yom HaShoah, increasing the sensitivity of the decision and putting pressure on the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

According to The New York Times, trustees are discussing a date change, although Vogue still lists May 3 and officials have not confirmed any alteration. Donors have reportedly threatened to withdraw support, while City Council Speaker Julie Menin, art dealer Arne Glimcher and patron Jill Kargman have criticised or distanced themselves from the project; Met director Max Hollein said the museum opposes antisemitism and is consulting Jewish leaders.
