Amseatec Criss Cross Office Chair Review: Just Right

Wired · 1 month ago

WIRED reviewer Nicole Kinning tests the Amseatec Criss Cross Office Chair, a desk chair designed to accommodate people who like to sit cross-legged, tuck a leg underneath, or otherwise shift out of conventional posture. The reviewer, who has long-standing sciatica following a teenage hamstring injury, found it a strong solution after previously trying meditation chairs, kneeling chairs and a viral criss-cross chair that lacked wheels. The chair earns a rating of 8 out of 10 and is currently discounted to $95 from $150 on Amazon.

Its standout features are an extra-wide seat measuring roughly 25 inches across (versus 18 to 20 inches on a standard chair), memory-foam cushioning over a firm base, a tall usable backrest, wheels that roll on both hardwood and carpet, and armrests that fold flat through five locking positions. After more than a month of daily use of three to five hours, the reviewer reports no sagging, wobbling or creaking, and found the pet-scratch-resistant faux leather easy to wipe clean. Drawbacks include faux leather that grows warm, armrests that click loudly when adjusted and sit too far apart for shorter users, non-adjustable armrest height, and a size that may not fit under every desk.

  • Wide, cushioned office chair built for cross-legged and unconventional sitting.
  • Scores 8/10; currently $95, down from $150.
  • Sturdy with fold-flat armrests, but faux leather warms up.
