## Summary

*Gremlins*, Joe Dante’s 1984 horror comedy, has climbed to third place on HBO Max’s top movies chart, according to FlixPatrol. Its renewed streaming popularity shows how the film’s mix of comedy, fantasy and creature-feature horror continues to find an audience more than four decades after its release.

The story follows Billy Peltzer, who receives a Mogwai named Gizmo and is told to keep it away from bright light and water, and never feed it after midnight. When the rules are broken, destructive creatures overrun his hometown. The 1990 sequel and the two-season animated prequel series are also available on HBO Max; a third live-action film is now scheduled for 6 October 2028, delayed from November 2027.
