André 3000 and Cathy Moriarty have joined the recurring cast of Netflix’s forthcoming live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins, which is filming in Atlanta and is due for a global release in 2027. Their involvement adds recognisable film talent to Netflix’s modern reimagining of the long-running mystery franchise, with Benjamin also returning to a property he previously contributed music to.

The show follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp, when a lost Great Dane puppy becomes linked to an apparent supernatural murder; they team up with Velma and new arrival Freddy to investigate. Mckenna Grace, Tanner Hagen, Abby Ryder Fortson and Maxwell Jenkins play Daphne, Shaggy, Velma and Fred respectively, while Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg are showrunners; the series comes from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
