- He again denies appearing in "Avengers: Doomsday"
- Promoting "The Uprising", out 10 September; did own stunts

## Summary

Andrew Garfield has confirmed he will not congratulate Tom Holland on the box-office success of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" until he has actually seen the film, telling Variety at the DGA premiere of his own new film "The Uprising" that he doesn't "want to be disingenuous". He also reiterated his denial that he appears in "Avengers: Doomsday", acknowledging with a smile that he has previously misled journalists after lying about his surprise cameo in "Spider-Man: No Way Home".

Garfield, who played Spider-Man in two solo films before reprising the role in "No Way Home" alongside Holland and Tobey Maguire, praised the character's universal appeal despite not having watched Holland's latest outing, which has taken roughly $891 million domestically and is tipped to be the first film to cross $1 billion in North America alone. He was speaking to promote "The Uprising", Paul Greengrass's historical action drama in which he plays a fictional leader of a commoners' rebellion against King Richard II; Greengrass confirmed Garfield performed most of his own stunts, with the actor joking about "a lot of ice packs on the knees" afterwards. "The Uprising" opens in cinemas on 10 September.
