Anker’s sleep speaker uses radar and flower power to help you relax

The Verge · 3 hours ago

Anker has unveiled the SleepLab, a bedside speaker designed to monitor and improve sleep quality without requiring a wearable device. Instead, it uses 60GHz millimetre-wave radar to detect tiny movements in the chest and body from a nightstand, continuously tracking heart rate and breathing in order to tailor its output to whichever sleep stage the user is in. The gadget matters as part of a wider trend of "wearable-free" health tracking, aiming to make sleep monitoring more passive and less intrusive.

Alongside the radar sensing, the SleepLab incorporates relaxation features such as binaural beats and ambient lighting, and is designed to learn over roughly a month which routines help the user rest best. It works via a single button without needing a smartphone connection or subscription, though it can also stream audio over Bluetooth. The device can currently be reserved for $1, with the full SleepLab Pro (including radar) priced at $269.99, or $169.99 for a version without radar sensing; independent reviews are not yet available.

  • Anker's SleepLab tracks sleep via radar, no wearable needed
  • Uses binaural beats and lighting to aid relaxation over time
  • Pro model costs $269.99; reservable now for $1
