USA Network’s new scripted drama Anna Pigeon has recorded the channel’s strongest original scripted-series premiere in almost eight years, according to Nielsen data. The result is significant because it places the show among the leading new ad-supported cable launches, both for overall viewers and adults aged 18 to 49.

Across USA, E! and SYFY, the programme averaged 2.25 million viewers in the three days after its 7 August premiere, including 269,000 viewers aged 18 to 49. Starring Tracy Spiridakos as a former urban resident turned park ranger who investigates crimes in national parks, the series is adapted from Nevada Barr’s bestselling novels; its trailer has also generated 9.5 million social-media impressions.
