Anne Russell, the American stage actress who performed in both Jerry Herman’s Hello, Dolly! and Mame, has died aged 103. Her career spanned Broadway, national tours, television and nightclub work, making her a familiar figure in mid-20th-century musical theatre.

Russell died on Tuesday at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey. She made her Broadway debut in Flora, the Red Menace in 1965, toured internationally with Hello, Dolly!, and later appeared in productions including Gypsy, The Unsinkable Molly Brown and the 2001 television film These Old Broads; she also began skydiving at 88.
