Anthony “TJ” Catalfo (ex-Ruiner) has died at 40

Anthony “TJ” Catalfo, a former drummer with Baltimore hardcore band Ruiner, has died aged 40. His death has prompted tributes within the hardcore community, where he was known for his work with the band during its later period.

Catalfo played drums for Ruiner around the release of their 2009 album Hell Is Empty, alongside vocalist Rob Sullivan, bassist Stephen Smeal and guitarists Danny Porter and Dustin Thornton. Ruiner were an influential melodic hardcore band formed in Baltimore in 2004, active until 2010 before later reuniting.
