## Summary

Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has recalled hearing Bon Scott-era AC/DC for the first time as a teenager and explained why he regards the band as his favourite of all time. He says Bon’s voice, lyrics and storytelling made the group stand apart and helped shape his musical outlook.

Ian first heard “Rock ’N’ Roll Damnation” from *Powerage* in a junior high school lunchroom in Queens. He describes Bon’s lyrics as vivid, realistic and free of “cheese”, and says he learned rhythm guitar by playing along with Malcolm Young, whom he considers the greatest rhythm guitarist. Ian also regrets missing Bon perform on the *Highway to Hell* tour.
