Apple TV's sci-fi series Dark Matter has officially been confirmed to return, with the streamer unveiling the first trailer for Season 2 at San Diego Comic-Con. Based on Blake Crouch's novel of the same name, the show follows a man navigating the multiverse to find his way back to his wife and son; its first season adapted the entire book, leaving fans uncertain whether it would continue, but Apple TV renewed it for a second run.

Season 2 is confirmed to premiere on 28 August, with Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly returning as leads Jason and Daniela. The announcement comes as Apple TV continues to expand its strong sci-fi slate, which also includes Severance, Pluribus and the recently returned Silo, the latter having already been renewed for a fourth season filmed back-to-back with its third.
