Apple TV’s Newest 8-Episode Crime Thriller Is Putting a Twist on the Heist Formula

Collider · 3 hours ago

Apple TV has unveiled 12 12 12, an eight-episode crime thriller starring Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan that reworks the traditional heist narrative by giving equal weight to the planning and aftermath, not just the robbery itself. Rather than rushing through preparation to reach the "big job," the series splits its structure across three distinct timelines, offering a more expansive take on the genre that could appeal to viewers tired of formulaic heist plots.

The show's title reflects its structure: 12 months of planning, 12 hours during the heist, and 12 days of fallout, all centred on a bank vault beneath Zurich. Mackie plays a disgraced FBI agent pursuing Dornan's career criminal across Europe, with both actors also serving as executive producers; the cast also includes Kali Reis, Jack Kesy and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, among others. Created by Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, with Kari Skogland directing the pilot, the series premieres globally on Apple TV on Friday 13 November 2026, launching with its first two episodes.
