Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has revealed the name of Apple's long-rumoured folding phone as the "iPhone Duo", just hours ahead of the company's first iPhone launch event under new CEO John Ternus. The device is reportedly set to start at $2,000 and could ship as soon as October, marking Apple's entry into the foldable phone market where it has lagged rivals such as Samsung and Google.

The base model will reportedly come with 256GB of storage and launch in white and dark blue. This positions it above the cheapest Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, both starting at $1,899, but below the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra's $2,099.99. The name Duo has previously been used by Microsoft for its Surface Duo devices and by Google for a defunct messaging app. The iPhone Duo is expected to support side-by-side app use, iPad-style multitasking and the Apple Pencil, with official details due at Apple's event later the same day.
