Apple’s long-awaited smart home hub could launch on 13 October, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. The display-based device would be a key part of Apple’s expansion into smart home technology and a prominent launch for chief executive John Ternus.

The reported design is a six-inch square screen, available for a counter or wall, with a camera and microphone; a larger model with a nine-inch screen and robotic arm is also said to be in development. The hub is expected to use a new operating system and showcase an updated Siri, with face and voice recognition for personalised content and a visitor mode to conceal personal information. It could control connected devices, support video calls and intercom functions, show photos and stream music, as well as provide kitchen features such as recipes and cooking videos. The launch was reportedly delayed from 2024 amid problems with Apple Intelligence.
