## Summary

Argentina have reached the World Cup 2026 final after beating England 2-1 in a dramatic semi-final in Atlanta, with Lionel Messi inspiring a second-half comeback that ended England's tournament. England had taken an early lead through an Anthony Gordon goal but faded after the hour mark, allowing Argentina to draw level and then go ahead, with Messi setting up both goals. Argentina will now face Spain in the final.

The match was heated throughout, culminating in a confrontation between Messi and England midfielder Jude Bellingham in the closing stages that underlined the intensity of the fixture. Controversy also spilled beyond the pitch, with England supporters accusing FIFA of hypocrisy over a substitution-related dispute, and further incidents reported across several host cities, though fuller details of these off-field disputes were not made available.
