A 38-year-old man was arrested at Donald Trump’s California golf club after allegedly carrying weapons and possessing material relating to Melania Trump’s schedule and Secret Service personnel. The case has raised security concerns because the arrest took place while authorities were preparing for a presidential visit, although the man’s motives have not been established.

Prosecutors said Jeanine John Taele had seven notebooks containing 208 pages of sketches of Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, alleged Secret Service schedules and personnel details, and survival notes. Deputies reportedly found hollow-point ammunition on him and a loaded pistol in his vehicle; a search of his home allegedly uncovered an illegally modified AR-style rifle, other weapons, body armour and ammunition. A judge found him unfit to stand trial following an evaluation, transferred the case to mental health court, and ordered him held until a 9 September hearing.
