Man hospitalised after long-bladed weapon assault in Bournemouth gardens

A man was taken to hospital after being hit on the head with a long-bladed weapon during an altercation in Boscombe Chine Gardens, Bournemouth. Police arrested a man on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and said the victim’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The incident was reported at about 12.40pm, and officers cordoned off the area before making the arrest near the Chine Hotel. The hotel is one of three in Bournemouth used by the Home Office to accommodate asylum seekers; police said they would maintain an increased presence while investigating.
