Arsenal express interest in signing Quansah
Arsenal have made exploratory enquiries about signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah, as they seek cover before beginning their Premier League title defence. The 23-year-old’s ability to play at centre-back and right-back is particularly relevant because William Saliba is injured and Jurrien Timber is struggling for fitness.
Arsenal are also discussing a move for Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa, although Villa value him at about £60m while Arsenal’s valuation is nearer £40m; interest in Quansah may therefore strengthen their negotiating position. Quansah made 44 appearances and scored five goals for Leverkusen last season, while Liverpool can match any offer under a clause in his transfer but reportedly do not intend to do so.
