## Key points

- George Gordon denies murdering Delia McInerney.
- Prosecutors allege the killing was planned and financially motivated.
- Photos of McInerney and her pets were shown at trial.

## Summary

Artist Delia McInerney was killed in April 2023, and her dismembered remains were allegedly hidden in a freezer with the bodies of her pets. Her friend George Gordon denies murder and says he acted in self-defence; prosecutors say the killing was planned and motivated partly by financial gain. The trial is ongoing at Liverpool Crown Court.

Photographs shown to jurors depict McInerney with her guinea pigs and rabbit, and Gordon beside the animals’ cages. Prosecutors say Gordon bought a sledgehammer, cordless handsaw and copy of Gray’s Anatomy before the killing, then took cash from McInerney’s accounts and fraudulently obtained credit in her name. A witness told the court that Gordon later described McInerney as travelling to several different countries.
