Wonder Man creator Andrew Guest has responded to fan backlash after Marvel abruptly cancelled a planned second season of the Emmy-nominated series, days after Blade star Mahershala Ali sharply criticised Disney for repeatedly failing to make his long-promised Blade reboot. Fans have highlighted the two setbacks as part of a wider pattern of Marvel projects starring Black actors being delayed, mishandled or poorly received, calling it a "terrible look" for the studio and urging greater care going forward.

Guest acknowledged the criticism in a TikTok video, saying he had been "listening" and that there were "important conversations being had online about the kind of stories we're prioritising". Fans pointed to a string of other troubled projects, including Don Cheadle's stalled Armor Wars, Ironheart's delayed 2025 release, the poorly-rated Secret Invasion, Anthony Mackie's mixed reception in Captain America: Brave New World, and Monica Rambeau's absence from Avengers: Doomsday marketing. Marvel's future Disney+ slate remains unclear, with only Vision Quest and Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 already filmed, while upcoming films include Black Panther 3 and Ghost Rider in 2028.
