Aston Villa complete £47m Mbaye signing

BBC Sport · 2 hours ago

Aston Villa have signed 18-year-old Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris St-Germain for €55m (£47m), continuing Unai Emery's heavy summer investment in attacking talent. The teenager becomes the latest forward to join Villa, following Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi and Nicolas Jackson, as the club looks to strengthen despite losing several key players from its Europa League-winning squad.

Mbaye scored three goals and added two assists in 31 appearances for PSG last season as they retained the Ligue 1 and Champions League titles. He featured in all four of Senegal's 2026 World Cup matches, scoring against France to become the youngest African player to score at a men's World Cup. Born in France and a former Les Bleus youth international, he switched allegiance to Senegal in 2025 through his father's nationality. Villa's spending has been offset by big-money departures, including Morgan Rogers to Chelsea (£117m), Ezri Konsa to Arsenal (£55m) and Ollie Watkins to Al-Hilal (£51m).
