Agostino Abbatiello, a 24-year-old Pennsylvania State University accounting student, was photographed being reunited with his parents after they posted his $250,000 bail on a credit card, freeing him from Centre County Correctional Facility. He is accused of being the "godfather" of a cocaine trafficking operation supplying campus fraternities, having been named by a co-defendant who was arrested and cooperated with a grand jury investigation. The case has drawn attention because of the contrast between Abbatiello's academic success and privileged background and the scale of the alleged drug dealing.

At a preliminary hearing in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, prosecutors said Abbatiello's Venmo account showed $116,000 received and $194,000 paid out, though cash transactions would not appear on the app. He faces felony charges of possession with intent to deliver and conspiracy, and has not yet entered a plea. His parents, an asphalt business owner and a company chief executive from Long Island, sat in the front row during proceedings in which a friend testified about an alleged drug sale allegedly carried out in front of Abbatiello's younger brother; he must now reside with them under his bail conditions.
