Wired has reviewed the Asus ProArt PA279cdv, a 27-inch QD-OLED monitor aimed at home-office users, photo and video editors, and other creatives rather than gamers, priced at $699. The review notes that while OLED technology is now standard in gaming monitors, it has been slow to reach general productivity and content-creation displays, despite offering benefits such as true blacks and strong HDR performance that are equally useful for entertainment and creative work. Asus is one of very few manufacturers targeting this non-gaming OLED niche, making the PA279cdv notable as the cheapest OLED model in its ProArt range.

The monitor's main rival is the larger 31.6-inch Dell 32 Plus QD-OLED, with the pricier 32-inch Samsung Smart Monitor M90SF as another alternative. The Asus offers a highly adjustable stand, a good range of ports including USB-C with 96 watts of power delivery, a second USB-C for KVM switching, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort, plus a companion Display Widget app for Windows and macOS. Drawbacks highlighted include uneven bezels and disappointing built-in speakers, which compare unfavourably with those on the Dell alternative, while brightness in SDR and HDR remains the crucial factor in judging its overall picture quality.
