## Key points

- Asus’s Wi-Fi 8 router is powerful but aimed at early adopters.
- It costs $900 and Wi-Fi 8 devices are not yet available.
- Tests reached 3Gbps nearby and 350Mbps across a garden.

## Summary

Asus’s ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro offers an early look at Wi-Fi 8, with strong speeds, extensive connectivity and stable performance in testing. The standard is still in draft form and compatible devices have yet to arrive, so the review sees little reason for most people to upgrade now.

The quad-band router has eight fixed antennas, two 10Gbps ports and two 6GHz bands, and is priced at $900. Testing found speeds of up to 3Gbps in the same room, about 1Gbps through a wall and 350Mbps at the end of a thick-walled garden; testing Wi-Fi 8 required linking two of the routers.
